Karisma Kapoor is currently in a significant legal battle regarding the inheritance of her late father, Sunjay Kapur, who passed away recently. The estate, valued at a staggering \u20b930,000 crores, has become a point of contention, particularly for Karisma’s children, Samaira (20) and Kiaan (15). With the help of senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, the children are contesting an alleged will that was introduced seven weeks after their father\u2019s death, despite previous statements indicating that no such will existed.<\/p>\n
The crux of the issue revolves around a will dated March 2025 that supposedly allocates all of Sunjay Kapur’s personal assets to his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur. This document has not been officially registered or validated, leading the children’s legal team to suggest possible forgery and concealment. The Delhi High Court has instructed that the claimed will be made public, along with a comprehensive inventory of Sunjay Kapur\u2019s assets as of June 12, 2025.<\/p>\n
Jethmalani emphasized that this case isn\u2019t solely about financial gain from the RK family trust. Rather, it\u2019s about ensuring that Karisma\u2019s children receive their fair share of their father\u2019s estate. He asserted, \u201cThis matter is about securing a future for Sunjay Kapur\u2019s children and granting them rightful access to the wealth held in India and abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n
In court, Priya Sachdev Kapur’s lawyer claimed that Karisma’s children had already benefitted from \u20b91,900 crores through the RK family trust. However, reports suggest that this sum merely represents the value of shares in Sona Comstar, which remain under the trust\u2019s management, providing the children no actual control or access. The majority of the assets, over \u20b928,000 crores, are still under Priya\u2019s authority.<\/p>\n
Jethmalani pointed out the unfairness of the situation, stating that, even with the \u20b91,900 crores acknowledgment, a massive portion of the wealth remains with Priya. He argued, \u201cThis case is essential to ensure that all five primary heirs, including Karisma\u2019s two children, receive equitable access to their father’s estate.\u201d<\/p>\n
At this point, Karisma’s children still have not received a copy of the alleged will, nor have they been informed about the details of their father’s personal estate. This unfolding legal conflict raises serious concerns about transparency, fairness, and the rights of children embroiled in high-profile inheritance disputes.
