Decatur Businesses Get a Boost Ahead of the FIFA World Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n In downtown Decatur, the Little Shop of Stories is excited to share some good news. The shop recently secured a grant from the city to improve its storefront.<\/p>\n The Downtown Development Authority has set aside $200,000 to support small businesses in enhancing their appearances, making structural upgrades, and updating their online presence\u2014all in preparation for the FIFA World Cup coming to the area next year.<\/p>\n Justin Colussy-Estes, the manager of Little Shop of Stories, expressed gratitude for the funding: \u201cWe couldn\u2019t have done what we\u2019ve done without the grant and the improvements we have to our store. It has been incredibly helpful, and our customers love it.\u201d<\/p>\n Just down the street, Scott Herman, who owns the Raging Burrito, is eager to take part in the program as well. \u201cWe\u2019re going to do it. We\u2019ve got to apply immediately. We applied last time, but we\u2019re so happy it’s available again,\u201d Herman said. He plans to enhance their website and make exterior improvements to attract more customers.<\/p>\n In addition to helping businesses, the city is also making enhancements to the town square. They will be hosting a World Cup watch party every day for a month, creating a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to see our businesses benefit from making their places more inviting for everyone,\u201d said Victoria Cohen with the Decatur Development Authorities.<\/p>\n Herman added, \u201cIt\u2019s great that they\u2019re so involved and care. Being here for 27 years, we know how much Decatur cares about its community.\u201d<\/p>\n City officials noted that the application window for the business grants is currently open and will close on September 19.
