In just six months, from December 2024 to May 2025, companies utilizing agentic AI jumped from 50% to an impressive 82%. This information was gathered through an analysis of over 400 companies, highlighting a shift toward technology that not only suggests code but also takes action by reviewing, writing, and submitting it.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of 2025, just a little over half of companies were using these advanced AI tools. By May, that number skyrocketed to 82%. The demand for AI-driven code reviews has also surged, increasing from 39% in January to 76% in May. Notable tools in this category include GitHub Copilot Reviewer, Cursor BugBot, and a few emerging names like Graphite and Greptile.<\/p>\n
However, while progress is undeniable, AI still hasn\u2019t fully taken over coding processes. Currently, only about 8% of companies are experimenting with fully independent AI coding workflows\u2014where AI writes and submits code as well. This reflects a rise from less than 2% earlier in the year, yet it still indicates that there’s a long journey ahead before AI becomes commonplace in all coding tasks.<\/p>\n
