Officials are emphasizing that there are infected mosquitoes in these regions.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brandon Leftwich, the Environmental Health Director at FCBOH, stated, &#8220;Infected mosquitoes can be harmful and pose a serious health risk to our community. We want to ensure everyone is aware and takes the necessary steps to protect themselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To help fight against mosquito bites, FCBOH recommends following the &#8220;5Ds&#8221; of prevention:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Dusk\/Dawn<\/strong>: Try to stay indoors during dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dress<\/strong>: Wear loose, long-sleeved clothing to cover your skin.<\/li>\n<li><strong>DEET<\/strong>: Use insect repellent containing DEET on exposed skin, as it&#8217;s the most effective way to repel mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drain<\/strong>: Empty any containers that hold standing water, as they serve as breeding spots for mosquitoes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Doors<\/strong>: Ensure doors and windows are sealed tightly and repair any damaged screens.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Additionally, keeping your yard tidy by trimming grass and weeds can help reduce mosquito populations.<\/p>\n<p>If infected mosquitoes are confirmed nearby, FCBOH plans to collaborate with a mosquito control provider to address the issue.
