Indian Women\u2019s Cricket Team Celebrated in London<\/strong><\/p>\n London, July 6 \u2014 The Indian women\u2019s cricket team received a warm welcome during their visit to England for the T20I and ODI series, as they gathered for a community event at the Indian High Commission.<\/p>\n Coach Amol Muzumdar and the entire team were present at the celebration held at the India House on Saturday evening. Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, recognized the players as \u201cgenuine heroes,\u201d praising their dedication and impact on the sport and inspiring Indians globally.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat you have achieved has changed the game and encouraged participation in sports throughout India,\u201d Doraiswami stated. He expressed how the players empower young Indian women, making them feel they can accomplish anything.<\/p>\n Doraiswami also emphasized that Indian sports teams, including the cricket and hockey teams, showcase the best of India. \u201cThese athletes come from diverse backgrounds, representing the spirit of our nation and the opportunities that sports provide,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n Shivani Uberoi, the EDI Lead at the England and Wales Cricket Board, acknowledged the significance of the players’ influence. \u201cYour skills add excitement to every match. You are role models not just for girls in India, but for girls everywhere,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n UK Immigration Minister Seema Malhotra highlighted the joy that the achievements of the Indian team bring to the Indian community in the UK. \u201cIn today’s world, maintaining physical health is vital, and you inspire everyone in this regard,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n In a fun moment, all-rounder Jemima Rodrigues showcased her singing talent by performing a few lines from the popular song “Yeh Dosti”. She and her teammates engaged in light-hearted discussions with India\u2019s Deputy High Commissioner, Sujit Ghosh.<\/p>\n Rodrigues also mentioned how the support from fans in England has always been crucial, especially during their memorable matches in 2017.
