Himanshu and I had a bit of a tiff! I didn\u2019t have that part of the ending scripted, and it was the final day of shooting in Banaras. The night before, he confidently assured me, \u2018I\u2019ll have it ready by morning.\u2019 I told him I had to start shooting at 7:00 am!\u201d<\/p>\n Laughter filled the room as Aanand continued, \u201cAt 6:00 am, I woke him up, knowing he probably hadn\u2019t finished writing. I asked him, \u2018Did you write anything?\u2019 and then insisted, \u2018You need to finish it, or I\u2019m not leaving Banaras!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Two hours later, Himanshu arrived at the shoot location, looking a bit disheveled. \u201cI was filming a scene with Naman where he asks, \u2018Do the gods themselves come down to ask for alms to save their wives?\u2019 I asked him if he had written anything. He replied, \u2018I wrote a little.\u2019 When he shared the scene with me, I knew it was exactly what I wanted, though I felt frustrated at the same time. As a director, you have your pride! But when he finished his narration, I still managed to say, \u2018That\u2019s great\u2019 before walking away.\u201d<\/p>\n Aanand further added, \u201cThose lines sparked the visuals I needed. I called Dhanush and asked if he could come for an hour after lunch to shoot. He agreed and asked what the scene was about.
