In light of these developments, Air India, part of the Tata Group, has proactively changed its flight routes. The airline confirmed that it will no longer operate flights in the airspaces of Iran, Iraq, and Israel.

An Air India representative stated on Saturday that the airline will gradually stop using certain areas of the Persian Gulf airspace over the coming days. This change will affect flights to various destinations in the Middle East, including the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.

"We are taking these steps to ensure safety,” the spokesperson mentioned. “Moving forward, we’ll choose alternative routes for flights to places like the UAE and Qatar.” As a result, travelers might experience longer flight times for these routes, as well as for some flights to and from Europe and North America.

The airline is working closely with security experts to keep a close watch on the situation in the region. They emphasized their readiness to adopt further safety measures if needed to protect operations.

Other airlines are also adjusting their services; major Israeli carriers like El Al have suspended rescue flights for citizens and extended the halt of regular flights through June 27. In addition, Germany’s Lufthansa has stopped flights to Tehran and is avoiding Iranian airspace, while Emirates has canceled services to Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iran. Qatar Airways has also temporarily halted flights to Iran, Iraq, and Syria.

This comes after several international airlines suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv following an incident where a missile from Yemen’s Houthi rebels landed near the airport on May 4. In response to the rising tensions and a recent US military strike against Iranian nuclear sites, Israel has closed its airspace as a precaution, although land borders with Egypt and Jordan remain open.

Air India Adjusts Flight Routes Amid Rising Tensions Israel and Iran are increasingly at odds, exchanging missile strikes and focusing on crucial infrastructure.
