Goa Introduces New Tech-Driven Road Safety Policy for 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n The Goa government has launched an innovative Road Safety Policy for 2025, focusing on using technology to enhance road safety across the state. This new policy aims to revolutionize Goa\u2019s transportation and safety measures by implementing advanced solutions like AI-powered surveillance and systematic data analysis.<\/p>\n Under this policy, an AI-Based Traffic Management System will be established to monitor traffic violations such as speeding, not wearing helmets, not using seatbelts, and running red lights. It will also help identify older vehicles, those with expired insurance, and stolen cars. To ensure smooth operation, this system will be developed through public-private partnerships, allowing real-time integration of traffic data with law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n To improve driver licensing and vehicle checks, the policy demands the opening of at least one automated testing station in every district. Additionally, there will be at least one Institute of Driving Training and Research or a Regional Driving Training Centre established with private sector collaboration.<\/p>\n Goa plans to fully integrate its accident data collection system, known as iRAD, with the e-Detailed Accident Report system. This integration will enhance the analysis of accident data sourced from police, transport, highway, and health departments.<\/p>\n The policy also emphasizes the importance of training and awareness across various departments, especially in high-risk areas. Regular reviews will be conducted at district and state levels to monitor implementation and address any enforcement issues.<\/p>\n To ensure compliance, the policy mandates the use of high-security registration plates, vehicle tracking devices, and speed limiters for all vehicles. Failure to comply could result in license suspensions, insurance complications, and even criminal charges. Safety checks for vehicle fitness will be closely linked to these requirements.<\/p>\n Recognizing that improved infrastructure alone won’t eliminate road accidents, the policy includes extensive awareness campaigns. The TRUST (Traffic Rules Understanding and Safety Training) initiative will be expanded to retrain drivers with suspended licenses. Educational efforts will also reach schools, colleges, and workplaces to cultivate a culture of safety compliance.<\/p>\n Data from 2024 reveals that straight roads saw over 81% of accidents in Goa, with motorcyclists accounting for the majority of fatalities.
