Jack Draper has achieved a significant milestone by reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 Madrid Open, which will push him into the top 5 of the ATP rankings for the first time. On May 1, Draper displayed an impressive performance against Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi, winning the match 6-0, 6-4. With this victory, he becomes just the fourth British player in history to break into the top 5, joining the ranks of Andy Murray, Tim Henman, and Greg Rusedski.<\/p>\n
Draper\u2019s accomplishment is even more remarkable as he joins Rafael Nadal as the only left-handed players to enter the ATP top 5 this century. In the upcoming semi-finals on May 2, Draper will face Lorenzo Musetti, who secured his spot by defeating Canada\u2019s Gabriel Diallo with a score of 6-4, 6-3.<\/p>\n
If Draper wins the match in Madrid, he will be close to overtaking Casper Ruud for the No. 4 position in the rankings, currently just 25 points away.<\/p>\n
Over the past year, Draper has made significant progress in his career. He began last year ranked No. 43 and entered the current season as the 14th player. Earlier this March, he celebrated a major victory by winning the Indian Wells Masters against Holger Rune.<\/p>\n

On the women’s side, Coco Gauff, the 2023 US Open champion, easily defeated five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek 6-1, 6-1 in the semi-finals.
