Udit Narayan Faces Legal Challenge as Ex-Wife Ranjana Jha Pursues Property Rights

Udit Narayan is currently dealing with significant legal issues following a controversial incident that went viral. His first wife, Ranjana Jha, has initiated a maintenance case against him, alleging that he has violated her rights and wrongfully taken control of her property. The situation escalated on February 21, when Narayan appeared for a hearing at the Supaul Family Court and declined to reach any settlement.

According to reports, Narayan has accused Ranjana of trying to extort money from him. Previously, a complaint was made against him to the Bihar Women’s Commission, but that matter was resolved at the time.

It is reported that Narayan had been financially supporting Ranjana. He started with a monthly payment of ₹15,000, later increasing it to ₹25,000 in 2021. He also entrusted her with farmland and a house valued at ₹1 crore. Additionally, it was noted that he gave her jewelry worth around ₹25 lakh and a plot of land, which Ranjana later sold.

Ranjana, through her attorney, stated that as she ages and her health declines, she wishes to reconcile with Udit and spend her remaining years together. After attending the hearing, she expressed to the media that she feels overlooked by him and claimed he has withheld ₹18 lakh from the land sale. She further alleged that her visits to Mumbai are met with intimidation, leaving her feeling unsafe.

Udit and Ranjana were married in 1984, but their relationship soured as his career took off. Ranjana has accused him of gradually distancing himself, even disregarding their marriage, which left her feeling isolated.

In pursuit of security, Ranjana turned to the Women’s Commission for help in 2006. While Udit initially offered assurances of providing housing and financial support, she later found that many promises were not fulfilled.

This legal drama comes amid Udit Narayan’s recent kiss controversy. During a live performance of the song “Tip Tip Barsa Pani,” a video circulated showing him kissing a female fan on the lips as she approached for a selfie. This incident quickly gained traction on social media, attracting criticism and labeling his actions as inappropriate.
