Tilak Varma Sets New T20I Records in Thrilling Win Against England

Tilak Varma has made headlines by breaking the record for the most runs in T20 internationals without getting out. He achieved this feat with an impressive unbeaten 72 runs during India’s exciting two-wicket victory over England in the second T20I match held in Chennai.

With this performance, Tilak not only surpassed Virat Kohli’s previous record but also became the Indian player with the highest runs across four consecutive T20 innings, amassing a striking total of 318 runs without being dismissed. This achievement outshines the earlier records set by renowned players such as Virat Kohli (258), Sanju Samson (257), Rohit Sharma (253), and Shikhar Dhawan (252).

In his last three T20I innings, Tilak has been unstoppable, scoring 19, 120, and 107*. His latest innings of 72 runs off 55 balls further secured India a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, pushing his total runs in T20 cricket to 318 without losing his wicket.

Before Tilak’s remarkable achievement, the record was held by New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, who scored 271 runs without being dismissed. Other notable players in this category include Shreyas Iyer (240), Aaron Finch (240), and David Warner (239).

Tilak’s exceptional innings showcased his skill against England’s fast bowlers, as he led India to chase down a total of 166 runs despite facing some challenges from the opposition. Among the bowlers, Jofra Archer was notably targeted, with Tilak hitting him for four sixes. Archer ended up conceding 60 runs in his four overs while managing to take the wicket of Sanju Samson.

One of the highlights of Tilak’s performance was a sensational six he hit off Brydon Carse over deep fine leg, showcasing his amazing shot selection and power.

Despite facing pressure in India’s middle order, Tilak remained solid, guiding the team to a final score of 166 for eight. With his record-breaking streak still intact, fans are eager to see how he will perform in the upcoming third match of the series.
