Jill Biden Talks About Joe’s Health Struggles and Life After Cancer

In a recent discussion, Jill Biden shared her thoughts on how her husband, former President Joe Biden, has been coping with exhaustion during his term. She noted that he has experienced some mental decline, including slowed speech and increased stuttering. Despite these challenges, she is encouraging him to run for re-election.

In a separate update concerning his health, Joe Biden, 83, talked about his ongoing battle with prostate cancer. He mentioned that the radiation treatment he underwent last fall was effective, explaining that it worked as intended. He emphasized the importance of early cancer detection and urged men not to postpone conversations with their doctors about screening.

Biden’s remarks came as part of a lengthy social media post celebrating Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a cause that has become particularly personal for him due to his own diagnosis. He expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who have supported him throughout his treatment, appreciating their dedication and care.

Biden encouraged men to start discussing prostate cancer screenings at age 50, or earlier for Black men and those with a family history of the disease. He highlighted that early detection significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.

His office announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones. Following several treatments, including radiation, he seems to be managing his health effectively, albeit he may not have the same energy as before.

Jill Biden also commented on how her husband’s health challenges have affected his daily life, noting that while he remains active, he has needed to slow down. She, too, is preparing for her own endeavors, including the release of a book, which some speculate may be an opportunity for her to take the spotlight as they navigate these challenges together.

In closing, Joe Biden expressed his hope that by sharing his experience, he could contribute to saving lives through increased awareness about prostate cancer. He thanked everyone for their support and prayers, encouraging others to remain hopeful and committed to their health.
