Michael Dell’s Wealth Surges to $221 Billion

Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, has reached an impressive milestone with a net worth of approximately $221 billion, positioning him as the fifth-richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index as of July 2.

Dell is among a select group of six individuals whose fortunes exceed $200 billion, alongside notable figures such as Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos, and Google masterminds Larry Page and Sergey Brin. His wealth has seen a significant increase of around $71.9 billion since the start of the year, with only Musk enjoying a greater rise in fortune during the same period.

This impressive growth is largely attributed to a remarkable 225% surge in Dell Technologies’ stock price this year, elevating the company’s market value to approximately $281 billion. Dell himself holds about 41% of the company’s shares.

The booming demand for AI infrastructure has greatly contributed to Dell’s financial success. The firm supplies crucial hardware and services necessary for the development and operation of AI systems, including servers, storage solutions, and networking equipment.

In terms of wealth growth this year, Dell ranks just behind Musk, who added an astonishing $300 billion to his wealth and was briefly recognized as the world’s first trillionaire following SpaceX’s stock market debut in June.

Meanwhile, Alphabet’s Page and Brin have each seen their fortunes increase by over $23 billion, spurred by positive investor sentiment around AI, which has lifted shares of the Google parent company.

Michael Dell started his journey in 1984, at just 19 years old, with a mere $1,000, selling personalized computers from his university dorm room. Today, he has transformed Dell Technologies into one of the largest PC manufacturers in the world.

Beyond his business achievements, Dell is also a dedicated philanthropist. Through the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, he supports various causes, including education and healthcare, and aims to lift children out of poverty. Notably, in 2025, Dell and his wife committed $6.25 billion to long-term investment accounts for 25 million American children, marking one of the largest philanthropic contributions in history for American youth.
