ATU-Ozark and Butterball Team Up for Welding Training
Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus has joined forces with Butterball’s facility in Ozark to provide tailored TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding training. This initiative aims to boost workforce skills and enhance operations at one of the leading manufacturing companies in the Arkansas River Valley.
The training program was led by Lane Mathews, the welding program chair at ATU-Ozark. Employees from Butterball received practical instruction on TIG welding techniques, ensuring they learned about weld quality, safety measures, equipment handling, and precision applications commonly used in industrial settings. This training gives participants essential skills to improve product quality and efficiency while supporting maintenance and fabrication at the facility.
Ryan Mikles, vice chancellor of business innovation and economic development at ATU-Ozark, emphasized the significance of Butterball’s role in the local economy. “Butterball has a strong commitment to investing in its workforce and operations,” he said. “With the fast evolution of manufacturing technologies, businesses are increasingly dependent on skilled welders and technicians to maintain productivity and ensure safety.”
The Division of Business and Industry at ATU-Ozark collaborates with employers to create specialized training solutions that meet specific workforce needs. These programs can be customized to cater to various sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, skilled trades, and leadership development.
Dr. Sheila R.
