Mohammed Siraj Withdrawn from T20I Tour; Prasidh Krishna to Step In

India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will not be part of the upcoming T20 International series during the UK tour. This decision is part of a strategy to manage his workload effectively. However, Siraj will be available for the ODI series later on and is expected to join the team ahead of that segment.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made this announcement as the national team gears up for a busy international schedule, including matches in both Ireland and England.

In the official statement, the BCCI mentioned, “Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India’s squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.” They emphasized that this move was made after consultation with the Medical Team and Coaching Staff, advising Siraj to take a break to ensure he recovers properly before a long cricket season.

To fill in for Siraj, Prasidh Krishna has been chosen as his replacement for the T20I matches. This decision allows India to maintain an experienced pace option while giving Siraj the necessary time to rest.

Prasidh Krishna Takes Over

Siraj recently played a Test match against Afghanistan, where he took one wicket and contributed 22 runs. His aggressive style of play continues to be a highlight, even though his bowling figures were not striking.

Prasidh Krishna played in the same Test against Afghanistan, finishing with figures of 3 for 43. His last appearance in a T20I was earlier in the year against Australia, where he had a tough outing.

The T20I squad for this UK tour has seen significant changes. Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the captain, taking over from Suryakumar Yadav, who led the team to a T20 World Cup victory just a few months ago. The selectors have also included promising young player Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is currently playing for India A.

India’s journey begins with two T20Is against Ireland, followed by a five-match T20I series against England. The tour will wrap up with three ODIs, during which Siraj is expected to be back in action.
