Nvidia Expands AI Ambitions with New Deals in South Korea

On Monday, Nvidia announced important partnerships with major South Korean companies, including SK Hynix and Naver, as part of its strategy to secure essential memory chips for its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.

This announcement comes during a high-profile visit by Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, to South Korea. His trip has included engaging meals of grilled pork belly and local soju with leading business figures, pitching baseballs, and meeting a popular gamer.

Though Nvidia and its partners, including SK Telecom and the Doosan Group, did not reveal the financial details of these agreements, they mark a significant step forward for Nvidia.

SK Hynix, a key player in the memory chip industry, has signed a multi-year technology partnership with Nvidia to develop advanced memory for global AI data centers. According to SK Group, this deal will help ensure that chip production can keep up with the rising demand fueled by Nvidia’s expanding projects in robotics, personal computing, and AI supercomputers.

“SK Hynix has been Nvidia’s most important memory partner. We will continue this relationship,” a representative stated.

As Nvidia continues to grow its influence in AI, these partnerships in South Korea are seen as vital for both innovation and meeting market demands.
