Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Ignite Women’s Cricket in Impactful YRF-JioHotstar Campaign Before ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

Yash Raj Films (YRF) and JioHotstar have teamed up for a special campaign that brings together two of India’s favorite pastimes: movies and cricket. As the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup approaches, they released an engaging promotional video featuring stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. The video highlights the accomplishments of India’s women cricketers while sharing an important message about representation.

Launched on June 4, the campaign creatively connects YRF’s upcoming action movie Alpha with the rising popularity of women’s cricket in India. The video starts with Alia and Sharvari seemingly preparing for a promotional interview about their film. When the interviewer asks who inspires them the most, he initially believes they are talking about the male cricketers from the Indian team.

To his surprise, both actresses mention their admiration for female cricketers instead. This twist leaves the interviewer momentarily bemused until he clarifies by referring to them as the “Indian Women’s Cricket Team.” Alia then emphasizes that they should simply be called the “Indian Cricket Team,” challenging the idea of needing to label them differently. This powerful point underscores the increasing recognition of women’s contributions to cricket.

This campaign is part of the promotional efforts for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be available for live streaming on JioHotstar and will also air on Star Sports. It has drawn attention for effectively using the star power of Bollywood and cricket to raise awareness about gender equality in sports.

Meanwhile, excitement is mounting for Alpha, which is notable for being the first female-led commercial spy thriller from the YRF Spy Universe. The film features Alia and Sharvari in dynamic roles unlike any they’ve played before.

Directed as an action-packed entertainer, Alpha also includes an impressive cast with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor. Hrithik Roshan is set to make a special appearance as the popular spy Kabir, linking this film to the broader YRF Spy Universe.

With its mix of thrills and star talent, Alpha is one of the most anticipated Bollywood films this year, hitting theaters on July 3.
