Washington: U.S. Vice President JD Vance addressed reporters on Thursday, stating that while an agreement with Iran is not yet finalized, the two parties are getting closer. He mentioned that the U.S. holds the power to significantly hinder Iran’s nuclear program.

On the same day, the United States and Iran struck a deal to extend their ceasefire and ease shipping restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, pending approval from President Donald Trump, according to sources.

Vance highlighted that there are still some unresolved issues in the discussions with Tehran, especially regarding Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and the enrichment process itself.

“It’s challenging to predict exactly when or if the president will sign the memorandum of understanding. We’re still discussing a few wording details,” Vance explained.

He added, “I can’t promise that we’ll reach an agreement, but I’m feeling optimistic at this point.”
