During a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, emphasized the strong shared interest between India and the United States in maintaining safe and open maritime trade. He highlighted the importance of keeping energy prices low and making energy sources readily available worldwide.
Dr. Jaishankar also addressed a question regarding the Quad, reminding attendees that the current form of this important alliance began during President Trump’s first administration. He noted that the discussions are still very relevant today, especially as they mark the first day of Secretary Rubio’s tenure with a meeting focused on the Quad.
Looking ahead, Dr. Jaishankar expressed that the Indo-Pacific region will only grow in significance over time. He reassured that efforts surrounding the Quad will continue and mentioned that more discussions would take place soon, where more details and developments would be shared.
