In the post-match presentation, Gaikwad reflected on the team’s challenges, saying, “You and I both will know what happens next year.” He emphasized Dhoni’s significant impact on the game, stating, “He can change the game’s momentum just by being at the crease.”
Though Gaikwad expressed pride in the team’s younger players and the experience they gained this year, the looming question about Dhoni’s retirement felt particularly heavy this time around. While Dhoni had previously indicated he would continue playing after IPL 2025, the atmosphere this season felt different due to his prolonged absence from matches.
Injuries kept Dhoni sidelined for most of the season, leading to growing speculation about his future. This uncertainty made the season emotionally charged for Chennai fans.
