Mediplus Introduces Innovative 5-Way TIVA Set at SIVA 2024

Mediplus, a frontrunner in medical device development, has launched its groundbreaking 5-Way TIVA Set at SIVA 2024, the annual meeting organized by The Society for Intravenous Anaesthesia. The event took place on November 28 and 29, 2024, at Cutlers Hall in Sheffield, attracting medical experts from across the globe to discuss the latest innovations in intravenous anaesthesia.

As a key sponsor of the event, Mediplus took the opportunity to present their new 5-Way TIVA Set, which they claim is the first of its kind in the market. This cutting-edge device allows healthcare professionals to administer up to four different medications and an infusion using a single, unified system.

The 5-Way TIVA Set streamlines anaesthesia management by consolidating multiple medication lines into one hub. This not only simplifies the process but also reduces the chances of leaks, blockages, and improves overall patient safety.

Traditionally, managing multiple medications in TIVA required several lines and connections, leading to a higher risk of errors and complications. With this innovative design, the 5-Way TIVA Set eliminates the need for extra lines and taps, ensuring a more organized and safer anaesthesia experience. The system includes Siamese tubing to prevent tangles and features colour-coded lines for easy identification.

Emma Gray from Mediplus stated, "The 5-Way TIVA Set represents a major step forward in making anaesthesia procedures simpler and enhancing patient outcomes. Our mission is to create safer and more efficient clinical workflows, and this set reflects that commitment. It will not only lessen the complexity of TIVA management but also improve patient experiences by lowering the risks of post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV).”

Additionally, the set includes an anti-siphon valve to prevent backflow and an anti-reflux valve to help keep fluid lines uncontaminated. Available in 2.5M and 3M lengths, the 5-Way TIVA Set is designed to accommodate various clinical needs.

In line with Mediplus’s focus on sustainability, the new TIVA Set reduces the number of lines required and minimizes plastic use, thus promoting environmental sustainability while maintaining high performance standards. This initiative reflects Mediplus’s dedication to advancing healthcare while also being mindful of its environmental impact.

The introduction of the 5-Way TIVA Set aligns with Mediplus’s history of innovation since its founding in 1986. The company is known for producing advanced medical devices that are trusted in over 40 countries and continues to set benchmarks in Critical Care and Pelvic Floor/Urology. Mediplus is also set to enter the US market in 2026, pending necessary regulatory approvals.
