Virat Kohli Shines in Practice Ahead of IPL Season
Virat Kohli, the star player for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), showcased his classic batting skills during a practice session on March 19. While facing RCB spinner Swapnil Singh, Kohli displayed some impressive lofted shots, reminding fans of his stellar performance from last season.
The seasoned batter had a remarkable run last season, scoring 657 runs at an impressive strike rate of 144. He returned to India on March 18, just ten days before RCB’s first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against SunRisers Hyderabad, which will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Kohli is set to be a focal point as RCB aims to secure their first title after 18 seasons. In practice, he appeared to be in top form, confidently stepping down to challenge the spinners while holding his ground against bowlers like Venkatesh Iyer.
In a riveting moment during the practice, Kohli faced off against veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The bowler unleashed a fast yorker aimed at Kohli’s leg stump. Kohli, unable to react in time, had to shift his feet to dodge the delivery, which struck a bat behind the wicket. This moment left Kohli looking at Bhuvneshwar in admiration, clearly impressed by the 36-year-old’s continued skill.
Recently, Kohli has been outstanding in his one-day international performances for India, scoring three centuries and two half-centuries in two recent series. Prior to the New Zealand series, he also played in the domestic Vijay Hazare Trophy, hitting 131 and 77 runs in matches against Andhra and Gujarat, respectively.
