Sanju Samson Shines Again in T20 World Cup Semifinal

In an exciting semifinal match of the T20 World Cup 2026 held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Indian batter Sanju Samson showcased his incredible talent by scoring a remarkable 89 runs off just 42 balls against England on March 5. This innings marked his second consecutive half-century of the tournament, just missing out on a century when he was caught by Will Jacks at deep extra cover.

Samson had already made headlines with a stellar performance in the previous game, where he scored an impressive 97 not out against the West Indies. In the current match, he started off strong, taking on England’s Jofra Archer right from the first over, hitting a boundary immediately to get things rolling. Although he initially struggled with his timing and even survived a dropped catch at 15 runs, he quickly regained his form.

He made an impact by hitting Archer for an impressive 88-meter six over deep mid-wicket, followed by another boundary, signaling his intent to dominate the bowlers. Samson brought up his half-century in just 26 balls, displaying his aggressive style by clearing the ropes off Liam Dawson.

In partnership with Ishan Kishan, who scored 39 runs off 18 balls, the duo formed a crucial 97-run partnership for the second wicket, putting India in a commanding position. Even after Kishan’s dismissal, Samson continued to find his rhythm, unleashing a flurry of boundaries during Archer’s second spell before finally being dismissed, much to the admiration of the crowd.

Samson’s outstanding performance was a key highlight of the match as India looked to secure their spot in the finals. Fans eagerly await to see how he will continue to perform in the tournament’s final stages.
