MOSCOW: On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin firmly stated that Russia will not yield to any external pressure, particularly from the United States. He warned that any attacks deep into Russian territory would be met with a strong and significant response.
Putin characterized the U.S. sanctions as unfriendly actions, noting they might bring certain consequences but would not greatly impact Russia’s overall economy. He expressed confidence in the resilience of Russia’s energy sector.
“This is clearly an attempt to exert pressure on Russia,” Putin said. “A country that values its dignity will never make decisions under coercion.”
In a separate context, Poland issued a warning to Putin regarding the use of its airspace, particularly with the upcoming Trump summit on the horizon.
The Russian president also commented on the potential instability in global energy markets, suggesting that fluctuations could lead to price increases that would negatively affect countries like the United States, especially amid their internal political situations.
When asked about reports regarding the Trump administration easing restrictions on Ukraine’s missile capabilities, Putin responded, “This promotes escalation.” He cautioned that if these weapons were deployed against Russian territory, the consequences would be severe, urging leaders to consider the potential fallout.
