Exciting Outcomes from the SA20 Season 4 Auction
The much-anticipated auction for the fourth season of the SA20 took place on Tuesday, September 9. It was a thrilling event, with several big names attracting impressive bids. The standout of the auction was Dewald Brevis, who became the most expensive player in SA20 history after being sold to Pretoria Capitals for an incredible R16.5 million. A fierce bidding battle unfolded between the Joburg Super Kings and the Capitals, but Pretoria ultimately secured the young batting star.
Following closely was Aiden Markram, fetching the second-highest bid at R14 million from the Durban Super Giants. Durban was eager to sign Markram, who had previously led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to consecutive titles. After a competitive exchange with Pretoria, the Super Giants raised their offer to seal the deal, despite Sunrisers trying to retain their captain.
Wiaan Mulder was the third-most valuable player of the auction, finding a new home with the Super Kings for R9 million. Other key signings included Gerald Coetzee at R7.4 million joining the Super Giants, and Nandre Burger at R6.3 million to Joburg Super Kings.
