Pakistan and China Strengthen Ties in Science and Technology

Published on: August 7, 2025, 8:42 PM IST

Pakistan is eager to enhance its technological collaboration with China, focusing on space exploration, nuclear technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). Ahsan Iqbal, the country’s Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, shared these plans during a recent visit to China.

In a media briefing, Iqbal discussed meetings with key figures from China’s nuclear and space agencies. He highlighted ongoing discussions around using nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, especially in agriculture.

Iqbal noted that Pakistan aims to launch satellites and send astronauts to China’s space station in the upcoming year. “We also plan to send and land a rover on the moon, marking a significant achievement for us,” he said, outlining ambitions to achieve a lunar landing by 2035 with China’s assistance.

While in China, Iqbal attended the launch of the Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite-1, which took place on July 31 at the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan.

These collaborative efforts signal a strong commitment to advancing scientific and technological partnerships between Pakistan and China.
