Holger Rune’s Exciting Training Camp with Andre Agassi
Holger Rune, currently ranked ninth in the world, recently wrapped up a thrilling three-day training camp with tennis legend Andre Agassi. Rune described the experience as “insane” and said it opened his eyes to new ways of thinking about the game. He praised Agassi, an eight-time Grand Slam winner, for simplifying complex concepts on the court.
According to Rune, Agassi’s insights helped him realize that tennis can feel both complicated and effortless, depending on the circumstances. During their time together in Washington, Agassi shared valuable technical and tactical advice, which Rune and his coach, Lars Christensen, found incredibly beneficial.
“I’ve never met anyone who views tennis in this manner, and I found it fascinating,” Rune stated during an interview with the Tennis Channel. He reflected on how Agassi’s straightforward approach makes the sport easier to understand. Rune added, “Some of his tips were really helpful. It was fantastic for him to analyze my game, and my coach appreciated the insights too. They had some discussions, and we still keep in touch.”
While Rune didn’t get the chance to watch Agassi play in person, he has spent a lot of time studying YouTube clips of the tennis star. He noted how Agassi took the ball early and made the game look seamless. “It was interesting to see how easy he made it for himself,” Rune mentioned. “Even though it was before my time, looking back at his style of play was truly fascinating.”
As Rune gears up for the Toronto tournament, where he is seeded fifth, he is looking to build on the lessons learned during his inspiring training camp. In his first match on July 29, 2025, he secured a victory against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, dominating with 12 aces and completing the match in a swift 76 minutes.
