Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is preparing for the third part of his trilogy, now titled The Bengal Files: Right to Life. This film is set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025. The decision to rename the movie was made by the producer team, which includes Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Agnihotri himself.
This new installment follows Agnihotri’s earlier works, The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022). The story will explore the communal violence that occurred in undivided Bengal during the 1940s, shedding light on significant events like Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots. Agnihotri has referred to these events as a "Hindu genocide," and he hopes to bring attention to this often-ignored part of Indian history.
The film features a talented cast, including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi in key roles. Although the production faced challenges, such as safety concerns that led to filming being moved from Kolkata to Mumbai, the team has successfully completed the film and is eager to share this important narrative with viewers across the country.
Earlier, a teaser was released, showcasing veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty in a striking first look. He appears in a deserted corridor, looking rugged with a white beard, reciting the Preamble to the Constitution with a unique touch.
The Bengal Files is written by Agnihotri and produced by Agarwal and Joshi. This film is part of Agnihotri’s Files trilogy, which also includes The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files.
