LSG Owner Shares Support After IPL Playoff Exit
Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), recently posted a touching photo with cricketer Rishabh Pant after the team was eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs. LSG’s hopes of finishing in the top four were dashed when they needed to win their last three matches but fell short against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 19.
In the game, LSG put up a strong total of 205 runs in their first innings. Unfortunately, their bowlers struggled to defend this score, as Abhishek Sharma’s 59 runs and Heinrich Klaasen’s 47 enabled SRH to chase it down with 10 balls remaining.
Post-match, Goenka shared a cheerful photo with Pant, Akash Deep, Shardul Thakur, and other players, expressing his pride in the team’s efforts. He acknowledged the challenges faced in the second half of the season but emphasized the lessons learned along the way.
Goenka encouraged the players to finish their remaining two matches with pride. “It’s been a tough second half of the season, but there’s a lot to be proud of. The spirit, effort, and standout moments give us a solid foundation for the future,” he said on X.
Looking ahead, LSG is set to play Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on May 22, before wrapping up their season at home against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 27.
A Season of Ups and Downs
After a promising start to the season, LSG’s form took a nosedive in the latter half. They won four of their first seven matches but managed only one win in their last five. This phase also saw a decline in form from Nicholas Pooran and continued struggles for Rishabh Pant with the bat.
As the team reflects on a challenging season, they will be looking to end on a high note in their final matches.
