BCCI Plans Meeting to Discuss IPL 2025 Restart
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold a meeting on May 11 or 12 to discuss the next steps for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The tournament was paused on May 8 during a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals due to increasing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Sources indicate that the IPL may resume following a ceasefire agreement announced on Saturday. This ceasefire followed a call between military officials from both countries, leading to a halt in military actions across land, sea, and air.
A senior BCCI official expressed optimism about resuming the matches, stating that with the ceasefire in place, they can now explore hosting games throughout India, not just in southern cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
Additionally, the official acknowledged that some overseas players have returned home amid the uncertainty. "We are aware that some foreign players have left, and we will consider their availability as we plan for the IPL’s restart. We are in touch with all stakeholders and are hopeful to resume matches soon," the official stated.
