Television actor Lalit Manchanda, famously recognized for his roles in hit shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has sadly passed away by suicide in Meerut. His decision to end his life is believed to stem from serious financial struggles.
Reports indicate that Lalit had lived in Mumbai for 12 years, where he took on minor roles in various television productions. However, after facing ongoing financial difficulties, he returned to Meerut around six months ago to live with his brother in Prahlad Nagar, Lisadi Gate. He was accompanied by his wife, Taru, and their two children, 18-year-old son Ujjwal and daughter Shreya.
On the night before his death, Lalit chose to sleep in a separate room. The following morning, when his family went to wake him for tea, they found him unresponsive. They promptly contacted the police, who are currently investigating the matter. Lalit’s body was sent for autopsy and later returned to the family for cremation, which took place the next evening.
This tragedy echoes the past loss of Abhishek Makwana, a writer for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, who was also discovered dead at his home in Mumbai in 2020. A suicide note mentioned financial issues as a factor. His brother revealed that following his death, the family received numerous calls demanding repayment of loans Abhishek allegedly owed.
Since its debut in 2008, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has become one of India’s most beloved sitcoms, touching the hearts of many with its humor and relatable characters.
