Deepika Padukone’s popular film Piku, directed by Shoojit Sircar and featuring Amitabh Bachchan and the late Irrfan Khan, will return to cinemas on May 9, 2025. This re-release celebrates the movie’s 10th anniversary and highlights the heartwarming story of a father-daughter relationship, making it a cherished film across various generations.

Announcing the re-release on social media, Deepika shared a video of Amitabh Bachchan reflecting on the film’s memorable journey. In her heartfelt caption, she expressed her strong bond with the film, stating, “A film that will always have my heart – Piku is back in theatres on May 9, 2025, to celebrate its 10th Anniversary! Irrfan, we miss you and think of you often…”

Originally launched in 2015, Piku was celebrated for its genuine storytelling and exceptional performances. The film beautifully portrayed the dynamics between Piku, an independent architect, and her aging father Bhashkor, played by Bachchan, who struggles with health issues. Irrfan Khan delivered a subtle yet impactful performance as Rana, a man who unexpectedly becomes a support for the father-daughter duo during a transformative road trip.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar and penned by Juhi Chaturvedi, Piku stands out for its depiction of everyday life, emotional depth, and a perfect blend of humor and sentiment. The chemistry shared by the lead actors created an authenticity that truly resonated with audiences.

This re-release also serves to honor Irrfan Khan, whose untimely passing in 2020 left a lasting impact on Indian cinema. His performance in Piku remains among his most beloved roles. The film’s music, composed by Anupam Roy, along with its simple yet relatable visuals, continue to leave a mark on viewers. The dialogues and moments that capture the tender yet complicated bond between father and daughter are still fondly remembered.

As Piku makes its way back to the theaters, it offers a chance for both new viewers and longtime fans to relive the film’s magic, wrapped in nostalgia and cherished memories.
