The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone its upcoming meeting with IPL stakeholders that was originally scheduled for Thursday. This announcement was made by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. The meeting was set for October 15, a significant date as it marks preparations for the IPL’s 20th season next year.

The change in schedule comes after BCCI officials received an invitation to attend a special ceremony where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will honor the Indian men’s and women’s teams for their impressive achievements at the recent Asian Games. This ceremony will take place on October 15 in New Delhi.

Saikia clarified, “The meeting that was planned for October 15 in Mumbai with IPL Franchise Owners, CEOs, IPL Hosting State Associations, and Broadcasters has been postponed.” He also mentioned that the Prime Minister is recognizing the teams for their excellent performances at the 20th Asian Games.

In addition, several stakeholders reached out to the BCCI requesting a reschedule of the meeting. To accommodate their participation, the BCCI has decided to delay the event. Saikia assured that the new date and location for the meeting would be communicated in the future.

Prime Minister Modi will host a gathering for India’s Asian Games medallists, including cricketers and other athletes, at his residence on the same day. This event, set for 4:30 PM, will celebrate the success of athletes across various sports following their efforts on the international stage.

India achieved a commendable fourth-place finish in the overall standings at the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, bringing home 85 medals, which include 21 gold. The Indian contingent made a remarkable comeback in the final rounds of the competition, climbing from eighth to fourth place, matching their performance from the previous edition in Hangzhou.

This gathering aims to acknowledge the athletes’ outstanding accomplishments and to celebrate India’s strong performance in the continental event, showcasing winners from numerous sporting disciplines.
