Maybank and Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council Host Successful MH WellFest Cambodia 2026 in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – October 5, 2026 – The MH WellFest Cambodia 2026 has successfully wrapped up at Borey Peng Huoth Eco Park in Phnom Penh, organized by Maybank (Cambodia) Plc. in partnership with the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC). The two-day event, endorsed by the Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh, attracted around 2,000 attendees, including nearly 800 runners.

The festival aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility by demonstrating stronger ties within the ASEAN community. It showcased Malaysia’s healthcare expertise, introducing families to various medical options and services available across the border. Visitors engaged directly with representatives from 14 Malaysian hospitals, learning about health screenings, preventive care, and treatment alternatives.

“We wanted to answer a vital question: how can we assist Cambodian families in taking confident steps regarding their health?” stated Rath Sophoan, CEO of Maybank Cambodia. The event facilitated discussions around health and finance, helping families understand available healthcare options more clearly.

MHTC highlighted Malaysia’s comprehensive healthcare ecosystem, which revolves around patient-friendly services, stating that trust and experience are crucial in healthcare travel. Dato Suriaghandi Suppiah, CEO of MHTC, emphasized that the festival created a direct link between Cambodian visitors and Malaysian healthcare, allowing them to meet specialists and gain insightful knowledge about their healthcare choices.

Alongside health education, WellFest also included activities for families, such as games, live performances, and Malaysian food, fostering a friendly environment for conversations about health and future planning. The WellFest Run, with 5KM and 10KM distances under the theme “Every Step for You,” gathered nearly 800 participants, promoting wellness and community spirit.

H.E. Shaharuddin Onn, the Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, noted the growing connectivity between Malaysia and Cambodia, which is paving the way for families to access trusted healthcare services and experiences abroad.

Maybank took the opportunity to broaden the discussion on healthcare by introducing financial solutions to assist families in healthcare planning. Visitors were able to explore various options, including insurance and travel solutions, supporting their healthcare journeys and broader family goals.

The success of MH WellFest Cambodia 2026 marks a significant step for Maybank and MHTC in strengthening cross-border healthcare connections, aiming to provide informed and supportive experiences for Cambodian families. As ASEAN continues to integrate, Maybank is adapting to meet the healthcare needs and lifestyle aspirations of its customers throughout the region.
