England Takes Control Over Pakistan in Second Test at Lord’s
In a dramatic turn of events on Day 2 of the second Test at Lord’s, Pakistan faced another significant batting collapse while England established a strong lead. After starting the day at 248/9, England was bowled out for 290 early in the morning. Pakistan then struggled to respond, losing their wickets quickly and crumbling to just 110 runs. As the day wrapped up, England was ahead by 261 runs, reaching 81/3 in their second innings before play was interrupted by bad light.
The day highlighted the contrasting performances of the two teams. England’s lower order managed to contribute essential runs, while their bowlers thrived in the conditions, putting Pakistan’s batting under intense pressure once again. The one bright spot for Pakistan was opener Azan Awais, who showed patience and skill in his innings, scoring 46 runs off 102 balls. However, his dismissal by Ollie Robinson exposed the sheer weakness of Pakistan’s batting lineup.
Robinson had an outstanding day, taking 4 wickets for only 11 runs in 13 overs, while Archer picked up three wickets and Tongue contributed with two. Pakistan’s innings came to a quick end in just 37.2 overs, giving England a sizable first-innings lead of 180 runs.

Starting their second innings, England aimed to build on their lead while Pakistan was desperate for early wickets to curtail their advantage. Pakistan made some progress with three wickets, but England managed to reach 81/3 before the fading light stopped the action.
Despite being in a tough position on the first day when their score dipped to 120/5 thanks to the effective bowling of Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali, England’s resilience in the lower order and a potent bowling performance later put Pakistan under significant strain.
