Visitors Center Inaugurated in West Bank to Support Israeli Farmers
A new visitor center was recently opened in Har Bracha, a town in the West Bank, by The Israel Guys, a Christian organization dedicated to supporting Israel. For nearly 20 years, this group has brought over 5,000 volunteers from 35 countries to help with various projects aimed at enhancing the landscape of Israel.
Joshua Waller, the CEO of The Israel Guys, expressed that the organization aims to show the true state of the biblical heartland, which he believes is often misrepresented in the media. “We live here and see the real life of the people. Our goal is to invite thousands of people to witness this for themselves,” Waller explained.
Waller further emphasized the need for more people to visit and gain a better understanding of the situation. He criticized the portrayal of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, saying they have been labeled incorrectly as extreme and dangerous. “Come to the visitor center to discover the truth,” he urged.
The organization provides various volunteer programs, including a ten-day Heartland Experience that combines tours, volunteer work, and interactions with local residents. Other offerings include harvesting grapes and a specific Men’s Pruning trip focused on vineyard maintenance.
The roots of The Israel Guys trace back to 2004 when Tommy Waller, Joshua’s father, visited Israel and was inspired to support local farmers. He later moved with his family from Tennessee to Har Bracha in 2007 and established a nonprofit named HaYovel, creating opportunities for Christian volunteers to work alongside Israeli farmers.
As it grew, HaYovel adapted its mission to counter rising anti-Israel sentiments, launching media projects like The Joshua & Caleb Report, which evolved into a podcast to share pro-Israel stories. The organization rebranded as The Israel Guys several years ago, enhancing its advocacy.
With strong support and a team of over 20 members, the group has significantly impacted the local agricultural community by supporting around 120 farms. Volunteers assist in various activities such as planting, harvesting, and infrastructure projects.
In response to the recent tragic events in Israel, The Israel Guys initiated Operation Ittai, raising significant funds to strengthen communities against potential threats. Waller stated that claims suggesting Christians are unwelcome in Israel are simply untrue, highlighting that Israel remains the safest place for Christians in the Middle East, where their population continues to grow.
Volunteers hail from diverse Christian backgrounds, including Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals, and many others who come together to support Israeli farmers. Waller believes that aligning with biblical values can lead to positive changes in the region, fostering peace and prosperity.
“The land that was once desolate is now flourishing, resembling the Garden of Eden. It’s truly remarkable to witness and be part of this transformation,” Waller reflected, emphasizing the ongoing fulfillment of biblical prophecy through the organization’s work.
