BEIRUT: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed that recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon serve as a “clear message” regarding negotiations between Lebanon and Israel. This statement comes as both nations prepare for the upcoming round of US-backed discussions scheduled for next month in Rome.

In a statement from his office, Aoun criticized the ongoing Israeli assaults in the southern region and highlighted the “repeated violations” of international agreements meant to protect civilians. He pointed out the tragic incident in the village of Ansar, where an entire family lost their lives due to these attacks. Aoun emphasized that these actions reflect negatively on the negotiation process and raise serious concerns about compliance with international law.
