On August 5, it was reported that the highly anticipated film Ramayana is set to be released worldwide on Friday, November 6. Producer Namit Malhotra recently shared an interesting twist regarding its release strategy: audiences outside India will get to see the film two days before it hits theaters in India.

In a conversation with NDTV, Malhotra explained that since Diwali is on Sunday, November 8, fans in India can enjoy Ramayana on the festival day itself. Meanwhile, the film will premiere abroad on November 6. When asked about the release date, he confirmed that it is indeed set for Diwali in India.

There was a mention of the English version of the Ramayana trailer indicating November 6 as the release date. Malhotra clarified that they are putting it out internationally on that date, as international releases usually align with Fridays, but the Indian audience will have to wait until Diwali.

While Dharma Productions is managing the film’s distribution in India, Sony Pictures has secured the rights for overseas markets. Additionally, it was recently reported that T-Series acquired the music rights for both parts of Ramayana for a hefty sum of Rs. 75 crores.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for the blockbuster Dangal, the movie’s music is composed by A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Ramayana is envisioned as a two-part saga, with the first release planned for Diwali 2026 and the sequel set to debut on Diwali 2027.
