Two Arrested in Kidnapping Case Involving Assault and Fraud

Lucknow: The Madiaon police have captured two suspects linked to a kidnapping case that dates back two years. The incident involved a man who was attacked while being lured under the false pretense of inspecting a plot of land. He was then forced to transfer money.

The arrested individuals, identified as Arjun Kumar (22) and Shahrukh (24), were located in Ghaziabad through surveillance efforts and apprehended on Thursday night. Earlier this year, two other suspects were captured, bringing the total number of arrests in this case to four.

Authorities report that this gang specifically targeted individuals interested in purchasing land. Victims were invited to remote locations, where they were assaulted and coerced into making money transfers via UPI before being released.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Shivanand Mishra, the case was initially filed in 2024 following a court’s direction after the victim sought legal redress.

“During the investigation, we added various charges related to kidnapping, wrongful confinement, robbery causing hurt, cheating, criminal conspiracy, and cyber fraud under the IT Act after gathering technical evidence,” Mishra explained.

The police are currently working to check the criminal records of the suspects in other districts as part of the ongoing investigation.
