Government Set to Test E25 Ethanol-Blended Fuel Before Making Rollout Decision
New Delhi: The government plans to conduct thorough tests on E25 fuel, which is a blend of 25% ethanol and petrol, before deciding on its rollout. This decision comes amid concerns about how E20 fuel is affecting vehicle performance and mileage.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized that the government is taking a careful approach. “We are not rushing anything. If there are suggestions for E25, we will conduct the necessary tests, which will take some time. After evaluating the test results, we will consult with stakeholders and automobile manufacturers,” Puri told ANI.
The minister also defended the use of E20 fuel, noting that automobile manufacturers have not reported significant issues with vehicles using this blended fuel. “The decision to use ethanol blending is based on scientific research, conducted with thorough testing,” he explained. Currently, no timeline has been set for when E25 will be available commercially.
