Delhi High Court Sends Notices to ‘Kala Hiran’ Creators as Salman Khan Challenges Personality Rights in Court

The Delhi High Court has taken action after Salman Khan sought to block the release of the film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. On Friday, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued notices to the film’s producer Amit Jani, director Bharat Shrinate, and other key figures involved in the project. The court has scheduled a further hearing for June 19.

Khan’s lawyer, Nizam Pasha, argued that a promotional poster released recently featured a character that resembled the actor closely. The poster showed the character wearing a bracelet associated with Khan. Pasha claimed that this infringes on an earlier court order from December 2025, which protected Khan’s personality rights.

During the hearing, Pasha emphasized that the film violates these rights as outlined by the previous judicial ruling. Although the filmmakers did not announce a release date for the film, it was noted that the trailer was launched, contrary to earlier suggestions of it being revealed on June 20.

Khan’s legal team also referenced ongoing legal concerns related to a blackbuck poaching case, mentioning that four FIRs have been filed. Khan has been acquitted in three of these cases, with an SLP pending regarding the fourth. The lawyer argued that the filmmakers are trying to profit off Khan’s identity and requested a court order to stop the film’s release.

The court sought clarification on the release timeline of the film, to which Khan’s team replied that no official date had been provided by the producers.

In his application, Khan asserted that the promotional materials contained unmistakable references to him. He maintained that the unauthorized use of his likeness and image violates his personality rights and legal protections.
