General Fusion Tops TIME’s List of GreenTech Innovators

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 9, 2026 — General Fusion Inc. is celebrating today after being named the top GreenTech Company of 2026 by TIME. This recognition comes as the company moves closer to becoming publicly listed, thanks to its merger plans with Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. III (NASDAQ: SVAC).

Greg Twinney, the CEO of General Fusion, stated, “We are proud to be recognized as TIME’s top GreenTech company. This honor reflects the dedicated efforts of our team and highlights our commitment to reshaping energy through fusion technology.” He added that after more than two decades of development, their latest machine, the Lawson Machine 26 (LM26), is now operational and proving its capabilities.

Twinney emphasized the importance of their work, saying, “Fusion energy could revolutionize the global energy market. However, achieving this relies on solid engineering, careful investment, and a clear commercialization path.” He noted that this award reinforces their goal of creating fusion power plants that provide reliable, zero-carbon energy on a large scale.

General Fusion was chosen from over 8,300 global applicants for its unique approach to overcoming significant challenges in making fusion energy a reality. If successful, fusion could meet growing electricity demands while boosting energy security and helping with decarbonization efforts. The complete list of companies recognized can be found on TIME’s website.

Key Highlights:

  • Magnetized Target Fusion (MTF): General Fusion’s breakthrough aims to effectively tackle the obstacles to commercial fusion, particularly as electricity needs continue to rise.
  • Innovative Technology: MTF plans to achieve fusion using accessible materials, eliminating the need for superconducting magnets and high-powered lasers.
  • Operational Milestone: The LM26 machine is the first of its kind designed on a scale relevant for commercial use, compressing plasma at half of a commercial-scale diameter.
