Hezbollah Accepts U.S. Proposal to Halt Conflict with Israel

New Delhi: Lebanese officials have confirmed that Hezbollah has agreed to a U.S. proposal for both sides to pause their attacks, marking a potential step toward easing the ongoing conflict with Israel. This announcement was made by the Lebanese Presidential Office, which stated that the information came from Lebanon’s embassy in the United States. The confirmation was issued on Monday.

Details from the Statement

This agreement was reached following a conversation between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where they discussed the situation in Lebanon and efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.

The U.S. Proposal

The proposal outlined by the U.S. calls for both Israel and Hezbollah to cease hostilities. Specifically, it includes:

  • A halt to Israeli airstrikes in southern Beirut.
  • An end to Hezbollah’s attacks against Israel.
  • A plan to expand this arrangement to apply to all of Lebanon in the future.

Involvement of U.S. Leadership

U.S. President Donald Trump communicated to Lebanon’s ambassador, Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed to this proposal. Mouawad passed this information on to President Aoun, who then informed Hezbollah about the agreement.

Moving Forward

Further discussions are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday to refine the agreement and explore how it can be effectively implemented in practice.

This development indicates a significant moment in the complex dynamics of the region and the relationships between these nations.
