Veteran actress Meenakshi Seshadri has made the exciting announcement that she has moved back to India after nearly thirty years abroad. Once a prominent figure in Bollywood, Meenakshi left the film scene in the late 1990s, but now she is eager to explore new opportunities in both movies and streaming platforms.
In a touching two-minute video shared on May 25, 2026, Meenakshi expressed her gratitude towards her fans on Instagram. She said, “Hello to my wonderful followers! I want to thank you all for your love and support. After 30 years, I am back in Mumbai, my hometown, and I look forward to re-entering the entertainment industry with hope and positivity.”
She mentioned that she is open to various types of roles that allow her to portray meaningful characters, whether in lead roles, supporting parts, or short series. “I’m excited about roles that challenge me and let me grow as an artist,” she added. Although several offers have appeared since her return, she noted that not all were creatively fulfilling.
Meenakshi is handling her comeback independently, without the help of a talent agency. “I’m managing this journey on my own, and your support means everything to me,” she said.
While she is now based in India, Meenakshi still spends time with her family in the U.S. Recently, she was in Boston to celebrate her son’s graduation from Harvard University. In her post, she shared, “After moving to India, I am actively seeking new opportunities in the entertainment field. Though offers have come my way, they weren’t always exciting or didn’t come to fruition.”
Meenakshi emphasized that she is not trying to prove anything to anyone; she simply desires to work on projects that genuinely bring her joy. Her return to Bollywood has thrilled fans, who are eager to see her back on screen after such a long hiatus.
