WTCA Global Business Forum: A Hub for Trade and Collaboration
PHILADELPHIA, PA – May 12, 2026 — The World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) successfully wrapped up its 56th annual Global Business Forum (GBF) from April 19-22, 2026, in Philadelphia. This marked the first time the forum returned to the United States in nearly ten years. Over 500 participants from various industries, representing 116 World Trade Center businesses from 53 countries, gathered for this significant event.
The forum aimed to foster global trade and collaboration, with more than 200 business delegates attending both in-person and virtually. Attendees engaged in a variety of activities, including panels, workshops, and networking sessions aimed at creating valuable business connections.
Under the theme “Historic Foundations, Future Collaborations: Cultivating New Business Frontiers,” the discussions centered around developing global partnerships in today’s shifting economic landscape. Notable speakers included Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, who emphasized the city’s growing international business reputation, and Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Cohen, who underscored the importance of connections for economic growth.
One highlight of the forum was a conversation featuring NBA Hall of Famer Julius “Dr. J” Erving, who shared insights on how sportsmanship translates to business leadership. Panel discussions also tackled current trade dynamics, investment patterns, and inter-industry collaboration.
The changing global trade scenery—characterized by policy updates and market fluctuations—framed much of the dialogue at the forum. Participants discussed practical approaches to navigate these challenges and identified opportunities for collaboration.
John E. Drew, Chair of the WTCA Board of Directors, noted the importance of in-person meetings for building genuine relationships, particularly in today’s unpredictable trade environment. He emphasized that the forum serves as a vital platform for leaders to share insights and foster connections, ultimately driving regional economic growth.
Philadelphia’s diverse economic strengths, including its food, education, and technology sectors, showcased its role as a global trade hub. Thomas Young, President and CEO of World Trade Center Greater Philadelphia, expressed pride in hosting the WTCA network, highlighting the meaningful connections that unfolded during the event—connections that have the potential to support long-term growth.
In addition to the forum, the WTCA hosted its second Real Estate Summit, discussing global investment trends, and announced the launch of the UNIDO-WTCA Blue Economy Global Call 2026, which invites innovative solutions for sustainable development.
Looking ahead, WTCA plans to maintain its momentum with ongoing programs designed to strengthen international business connections. The next Global Business Forum is scheduled for April 4-7, 2027, in Binh Duong New City, Vietnam, emphasizing the country’s rising status as a center for innovation and international linkages.
