Vietnam Set to Purchase BrahMos Missiles and Patrol Boats from India
Vietnam has announced plans to enhance its defense capabilities by acquiring BrahMos missiles and several naval vessels from India. This development marks a significant step in the growing defense partnership between the two nations.
During a recent meeting, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese officials discussed the details of this deal. The transaction includes not just the advanced BrahMos missiles—known for their speed and accuracy—but also multiple patrol ships and 14 patrol boats to bolster Vietnam’s maritime security.
The BrahMos missile system, which is a joint project between India and Russia, is considered one of the fastest anti-ship missile systems in the world. Acquiring these missiles will greatly enhance Vietnam’s ability to protect its coastline and territorial waters.
This agreement reflects Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its military capabilities in response to regional challenges. The partnership with India also highlights growing defense ties between the two countries, which have been cooperating on various military exercises and training programs.
With this purchase, Vietnam aims to improve its naval defense and ensure greater security in its maritime domain. The deal is expected to be finalized soon, paving the way for enhanced military collaboration between Vietnam and India in the future.
