Belfast’s BLK BOX: A Journey from Personal Struggle to International Success

The founder of BLK BOX, Greg Bradley, has always been passionate about athletics and how training environments influence athlete performance. With a background in communication, advertising, and marketing, Bradley’s skills have played a significant role in developing his business.

Before launching BLK BOX, he was simply experimenting with equipment sales online. Testing the waters, he partnered with local makers to see what was feasible. There was no elaborate plan at first; it was all about identifying problems within the strength and conditioning industry and solving them, step by step. Those initial days were often messy and filled with challenges, as resources were tight and mistakes were a part of the learning curve.

A crucial moment for Bradley came when he suffered a serious neck and skull injury while playing Gaelic football. This event reshaped his perspective on resilience and risk, giving him a more profound sense of what’s truly important. Recognizing gaps in the market for better fitness equipment became a passion that he was eager to pursue.

The motivation behind BLK BOX was Bradley’s frustration with the lack of quality equipment in training facilities. He and his team began crafting products to meet those needs, evolving the business from a personal solution into a brand.

Today, BLK BOX specializes in designing and manufacturing strength and conditioning equipment and creating full training spaces. With a clear focus, the company has steered away from trying to be everything to everyone. This dedication to quality has propelled innovation within the brand.

What sets BLK BOX apart is their hands-on control over every stage of production. From design to delivery, they ensure high standards of quality and customization. This attention to detail not only enhances performance but also supports athletes and coaches in their daily routines.

Greg’s responsibilities have shifted over the years. Initially involved in all aspects of the business, he now focuses on growth, partnerships, and product direction while still maintaining a consistent training routine every morning, a practice he considers essential for his performance.

The company has experienced tremendous growth since its early days. Operating from a spacious 130,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Belfast and employing over 160 people, BLK BOX delivered nearly 1,000 training facilities in 2025 across 13 countries. Collaborations with elite sports teams and global brands have been significant milestones, showcasing their capability on an international level.

However, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic created uncertainty, leading to supply chain issues and fluctuating demand. Internally, rapid growth sometimes brought its own set of hurdles, including hiring missteps and increased pressure. Yet, through all this, Greg has remained committed to high standards and genuine quality.

Reflecting on the past, he admits that prioritizing personal health and trusting his instincts could have helped avoid some pitfalls. The fast-paced early years taught him that self-care is vital for business success.

As 2025 marked a pivotal year with significant investments in engineering and manufacturing, BLK BOX continues to expand into North America and Europe while enhancing its product offerings. The long-term goal is ambitious: to become the world’s leading strength brand, aiming for $100 million in revenue by 2031.

Despite all that has been achieved, the feeling at BLK BOX is one of a beginning. This drive for continuous improvement is what they call their “Pursuit of Better”—a mantra that embodies their approach to business.
