Dhurandhar Row: Bombay High Court Shields Director Aditya Dhar from Plagiarism Claims

In a significant turn of events regarding Dhurandhar The Revenge, the Bombay High Court has temporarily protected director Aditya Dhar from filmmaker Santosh Kumar’s public claims that could tarnish his image.

On Wednesday, Justice Arif Doctor made this ruling after hearing from Dhar’s attorneys. The court agreed that Dhar had a valid reason to seek protection and instructed Kumar to refrain from making any further allegations against him or the film until the next hearing scheduled for April 16.

This legal dispute arose soon after the film’s release, which stars Ranveer Singh. Santosh Kumar conducted a press conference accusing Dhar of copying the story from his own script, which he claimed to have registered with the Screenwriters Association in 2023. Kumar alleged that his script, titled D Saheb, was pitched to various production companies before Dhar used it for his project.

In response to these allegations, Dhar contended that they were unfounded and harmful to his professional standing. His legal team pointed out that Kumar’s claims gained traction online, spreading through numerous videos and social media.

Dhar had previously sent a legal notice to Kumar, demanding he cease spreading unverified claims. Despite this, Kumar did not respond to the notice or attend the court hearing.

During the court proceedings, Dhar’s representatives mentioned that if Kumar truly felt his work was stolen, he could pursue legal action. However, they underscored that making public accusations without evidence is unjust and damaging.

The court emphasized that Kumar must refrain from any further remarks regarding the film or Dhar until the matter is scrutinized further.

Dhurandhar The Revenge has garnered attention not just for its gripping story and star-studded cast but also due to this ongoing legal saga. The upcoming hearing is expected to clarify the future steps regarding this case.
