Netflix is gearing up to release its latest dark comedy titled Toaster on April 15, 2026. This unique film revolves around a seemingly ordinary object—a toaster—that sparks a series of unexpected and chaotic events after a wedding gift is left behind when the wedding is called off.
Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, Toaster marks a special debut for Patralekhaa, who is stepping into producing with her company, Kampa Film. The film features the talented Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles, supported by a lively cast including Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa.
Rajkummar Rao is returning to the comedy genre, known for his knack for delivering laughs. Toaster promises to blend everyday situations with growing absurdity and dark humor, offering a fresh take on storytelling.
Patralekhaa shared her excitement about producing the film, saying that partnering with Netflix, known for its support of unique stories, makes this venture even more special. She noted that the humor in Toaster is found in surprising places, making it a story they were eager to bring to life. She mentioned being thrilled to work with such a fantastic cast and is eager for viewers to enjoy this unpredictable journey.
Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films at Netflix India, stated that Toaster showcases quirky storytelling, following a miser as his life turns upside down while trying to reclaim his lost toaster. She highlighted the film’s engaging narrative and the excitement of having Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra leading the cast.
With a strong creative team behind it, the story and screenplay are crafted by Parveez Shaikh, with additional contributions from Akshat Ghildial and Anagh Mukerjee. The dialogues were written by Akshat Ghildial, while Tarun Bali serves as the executive producer.
With its eccentric characters and wild twists, Toaster promises to deliver an entertaining and chaotic viewing experience when it debuts on Netflix.
