Sanju Samson Begins New Journey with Chennai Super Kings
Sanju Samson, celebrated for his performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, has arrived in Chennai, kicking off his new chapter with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Fans gave him a warm welcome, and videos of his arrival quickly spread on social media.
CSK shared moments from Samson’s arrival on their official accounts, reminding everyone of the excitement as fans came out in large numbers to greet him. He joins CSK after being traded from Rajasthan Royals for ₹18 crore, marking a significant addition to the team for the upcoming season.
This will be Samson’s third team in the IPL, following his time with Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. The timing of his move is perfect, especially after a remarkable performance in the T20 World Cup, where he scored 321 runs in five matches with an impressive average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.37, contributing significantly to India’s title triumph.
His standout performances included an unbeaten 97 against West Indies, along with two innings of 89 in both the semi-final against England and the final against New Zealand. He was honored as Player of the Tournament for his outstanding display.
What Can CSK Expect from Samson?
Samson is likely to take a spot at the top of the order, possibly opening with young Ayush Mhatre. Given his recent success, CSK will count on him to deliver quick runs in the powerplay and set a solid foundation for the innings.
Earlier this month, Samson expressed his eagerness to collaborate with CSK legend MS Dhoni, which he believes will be beneficial for his development within the team.
